About me
Welcome to my personal site. My name is Tobias Hofmann. I’ll use this space primarily to blog about SAP related topics. With the raise of cloud, more and more topics I discuss here are cloud related, like SAML, OAuth, Azure, SAP Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, …
Why this site?
I created this site to be able to present myself in the internet and let people inform what I’m doing. After trying out different sites, I learnt the hard way that companies just don’t care about content creators. Even when they assign designated community people: it’s better to take of your own content. If you want to have some control of what happens to the content you created, do it in an environment you have at least some control over.
Me
My primary interest with SAP and my daily work tasks are related to architecture solutions running in the cloud (SAP Cloud Platform, Azure, AWS), UX, Fiori, mobility in general, and I still master products like SAP Portal, SAP Mobile Platform, Afaria and NetWeaver ABAP + Java. In a more general aspect, I speak Java, JavaScript, and HTML5. In regards to mobility in general, I did never understand the holy wars between native and hybrid apps.
I am a solution and enterprise architect. My normal customer size ranges from low 10k+ to 500k+, with local to true global presence. I try to share my knowledge at various events. Turns out that people in the SAP ecosystem like end users or consultants know me already before I can introduce myself personally.
Being the exception of the rule, I know a lot of non-SAP topics. Sometimes I work more in non-SAP areas like Azure, mobile or security then I work with SAP.
I admit to not stop here as I am much interested in topics around open source, Linux, portals, and analytics (I use Elastic Search and its tools a lot). In early 2000 I used to run my own Grid at home for encoding videos, using X86, SPARC as well as a Laptop as my home cluster. Today this would be called: private cloud. Today I have a NUC with 32GB RAM running my private cloud solutions.
