SAP Discovery Center Maintenance

I do not know the exact time, but I guess it was only a few hours between my post and SAP taking actions. A maintenance message was put in place and shown to the users.

The impact on the site was “low” as some images were not available any longer.

Only the images were removed / unavailable. Looking at the mission for BTP, instead of seeing 2 images blank content was displayed.

Everything else worked. Clicking on “open in new tab” showed that the CMIS service was unavailable and therefore the SDC could not load the images.

The reaction to the problem was fast and good. Instead of taking down the whole SAP Discovery Center service, only the affected part was shut down, leaving the page und its features up and running. OK, some images were not loaded, but that’s not a problem. A user of SDC wants to get access to missions, the tutorials or project information. That was all still available.

Update

Well, at I thought that SAP can solve it without interruption. On Tuesday the site worked, on Wednesday (25.05.2022) the site was taken offline.

And as always in such cases I wonder if there is a general takedown policy in place. No user-friendly maintenance site to provide a friendly and easy to understand message what is happening and what to expect.

Update 2

Later in the day (afternoon, 25.05.2022) the maintenance site was updated to look more nicely.

As you can see, I was logged in.

The static maintenance site was not so static.
